Ethan Hawke recently revealed if he follows his nose then he sometimes ends up in a pile of dog shit.

The 45-year-old actor is one of those who have made decisions in their acting career based on his gut instinct and have admitted it has not always worked out well for them, reports News24.com.

In a recent interview, the 'Boyhood' star said he has always given himself permission to do that cliche and follow his nose.

He added that doing this sometimes leads him right into a pile of dog shit, but often it leads him to where his heart wants to be.

Hawke, who is in his fourth decade working in Hollywood, has acted in a variety of genres, including action, drama and horror.
