Jammu and Kashmir creates history by beating 40-time champs Mumbai in Ranji Trophy

In an Ranji Trophy exciting match Jammu and Kashmir created history by defeating 40-time champions Mumbai in their first ever encounter in the 80-year history of the first class Indian tournament.

Mumbai lost at home at the Wankhede Stadium, which has been the team's fortress in the past.

Jammu and Kashmir dominated from the start after Ram Dayal conceded 51 runs in his 16 overs claiming three wickets and Waseem Raza conceded 29 runs from his 11 overs also claiming three wickets, as Mumbai were shot out for 236 in their first innings.

Shubham Khajuria's knocked a brilliant ton firing 107 to help Jammu take a crucial first innings lead and was helped by Ian Dev Singh, who scored 70, before Mumbai were bowled out cheaply again for 254 in their second innings.

Khajuria knocked another 78 runs in the second innings to anchor Jammu and Kashmir's chase of 237, helping his side win the match by four wickets.

For Mumbai, skipper Suryakumar Yadav was the only one who managed to reach a half-century and fired 57 runs in the first innings. He continued his dominance in the second by hitting a brilliant 115 in the second innings to provide Mumbai some relief.
