Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe will be the Chief Guest at the Republic Day Parade this year, the first ever Japanese dignitary to grace the occasion.
The Japanese Prime Minister will undertake an official visit to India from January 25 to January 27 at the invitation of his Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh.
Prime Minister Abe will meet Manmohan Singh for the Annual Summit between India and Japan.
Their discussions will add substance and content to the India-Japan Strategic and Global Partnership.
The visiting dignitary will also call on President Pranab Mukherjee, and witness the Republic Day Parade on 26 January.
Prime Minister Abe will be accompanied by his wife Mrs. Akie Abe.
