Jerusalem Police ordered that the Temple Mount be closed for Jewish worshipers after a group of Jewish visitors breached the rules of conduct of the holy site.
According to the Jerusalem Post, the city's district Police Commander Major-General Yoram Halevy had given the order.
Police is expecting more disruptions throughout the day as Palestinian demonstrators are slated to protest over the placement of metal detectors at the entrance to the site following Friday's attack on Temple Mount.
On July 14, three attackers were shot dead by the police during a shootout near the entrance to the Temple Mount complex, during an attack in which three people were wounded with two critically injured.
