Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) chief Syed Munawar Hasan has reportedly said that bombings and suicide attacks will not result in restoration of peace or enforcement of Islamic Shariah.
The JI chief, while addressing the worshippers at Mansoora mosque, said that Deobandi clerics should volunteer for peace talks in order to save Pakistan and prevent Islam from being shown in the wrong light.
Hasan alleged that following pressure from the United States, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) failed to hold peace talks with Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), the Dawn reported.
He further said that the need of the hour is that the Ulema (clerics) of Deobandi school of thought sit down with the Shias, the Ahle Hadith, and Ahle Sunnah in order to evolve an effective strategy to counter the current campaign against Islam.
The chief alleged that the news of Taliban not following the law was part of a propaganda that was being spread for 'special purpose'.
