US golf ace Jim Furyk has fired a sizzling 59 in Friday's second round of the BMW Championship to equal the record for the lowest 18-hole score in PGA Tour history, giving him a share of the lead with fellow American Brandt Snedeker.
Furyk scored 11 birdies, one bogey and an eagle at the par-four 15th to fire a course record 12-under 59 that made him the sixth player to shoot 59 on the PGA Tour.
According to Stuff.co.nz, the 2010 FedEx Cup champion's magical score lowered the course record of 63, set by Snedeker in the previous day, leaving him with an 11-under total of 131 in the third of the PGA Tour's four FedEx Cup playoff events.
The report mentioned that former US golfer Al Geiberger (1977 Memphis Classic), his fellow Americans Chip Beck (1991 Las Vegas Invitational), David Duval (1999 Bob Hope Classic), Paul Goydos (2010 John Deere Classic) and Australian Stuart Appleby (2010 Greenbrier Classic) are the five players to have shot a 59 on the PGA Tour.
