Joe Pesci coming back to Martin Scorsese's 'The Irishman'

Did you ever want to see the trio - Martin Scorsese, Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci again, after 'Goodfellas'? Well, here is some good news for you all.

As reported by The Independent, Joe Pesci might be re-uniting with his 'Goodfellas' director and co-star De Niro for 'The Irishman.'

Thelma Schoonmaker, Scorsese's long-time editor appeared to confirm the news in an interview given to Crave.

She said, "He wants to make more films like [Silence], that are spiritual, basically, but not set in 17th century Japan. In the modern time. So hopefully we'll be able to make that. Not the next one, the next one is the next one is the next one is The Irishman, which is De Niro and Joe Pesci and elderly gangsters. So that'll be very different from 'Silence'. But maybe the one after that!"

Doubt has long been cast over Pesci's involvement in the project after it was reported that the actor had "repeatedly told Scorsese no."

Recently, Netflix had acquired the worldwide rights to the film.

The film is based on Charles Brandt's book, 'I Heard You Paint Houses,' which sees the exploits of Frank Sheeran, a high-ranking Teamsters official with ties to the Bufalino crime family. Shortly before his death in 2003, Sheeran confessed that he killed fellow teamster leader Jimmy Hoffa, whose body was never found. He also claimed that it was Hoffa who wanted John F. Kennedy killed.

The flick also stars Al Pacino and it will mark the first collaboration between Scorsese and 'The Godfather' actor.
