U.S Secretary of State John Kerry has stated that airstrikes alone will not be effective in defeating the genocidal ISIS militants.
In an op-ed which appeared in the New York Times, Kerry suggested a global coalition using political, humanitarian, economic, law enforcement and intelligence tools to support military force in order to tackle ISIS, reported the Guardian.
The U.S Secretary of State also added that he and defense secretary Chuck Hagel would be using Nato summit-scheduled for next week at Celtic Manor in Wales- to meet European ministers and to seek to "enlist the broadest possible assistance."
The United States military has conducted fresh attacks targeting the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) near the strategic Mosul Dam, the Pentagon said.
A statement released by the US Defense Department said on Saturday that the attacks were launched using fighter jets and drone and destroyed an ISIS armed vehicle, one of the fighting positions, weapons and damaged an ISIS building, reported the Dawn.
The statement also said that all the aircraft exited the Iraqi territory safely. It added that the strikes were carried out to support Kurdish and Iraqi troops, protect critical infrastructure, US personnel and facilities in Iraq and to back humanitarian efforts in the region.
The U.S. has carried out 115 air strikes in Iraq so far, the statement said.
