American golfers Dustin Johnson and JB Holmes both scored a hole-in-one on the same hole, the par-3 hole, within just 24 minutes of each other during the third round of the World Golf Championships (WGC) at Doral, Miami.
Johnson and Holmes both used a 7-iron on the 227-yard hole in the third round of the event on Saturday.
The miraculous occurrence on the par-3 with a green surrounded by water to the front and right was a continuation of Holmes' top form at the event with him holding a five-shot lead at -11 at the end of the third round. Holmes has scored 62, 73 and 70, Stuff.co.nz reported.
After his ace Holmes dropped two shots on the seventh and 12th holes before going on a late blitz to fire four straight birdies from the 14th hole, which was only slightly soured by a final hole bogey as he created a huge buffer while trying to run for the biggest win of his career.
Holmes was playing for his fourth career US PGA title, having taken his first since 2008 last year at Quail Hollow.
Meanwhile, Johnson shared the second place with Bubba Watson, as he was seeking his ninth PGA triumph, his first since the 2013 HSBC Champions WGC event.
Moreover, world number one Rory McIlroy was 10 shots back after his even-par round of 72 featured four bogeys, the report added.
