Union Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) Jitendra Singh on Monday reassured everyone that Indian national Kulbhushan Jadhav will get justice in the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

"It has been reiterated time and again by the Ministry of External Affairs that the government is determined that Jadhav gets justice. His case is of great concern for the people and for India" Singh told ANI.

The ICJ is hearing the case of Jadhav, the former Indian naval officer, who has been sentenced to death by Pakistan on charges of being a spy.

Commenting on the same, Congress leader Tom Vadakkan said, "Whatever Pakistan says will be relevant, but the final verdict will be what the International Court of Justice decides."

Tom added, "The caveat is that Pakistan is saying that the Vienna Convention is not applicable to them. This caveat won't work as the whole international community is watching them. If Pakistan continues to act like the way it is then the situation will go out of control and they will be isolated internationally."

The ICJ on May 9 had put a stay on the death sentence given by Pakistan to the alleged Indian spy.

India approached ICJ against Pakistan, accusing the latter of "egregious violations of the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations" in the matter of detention and trial of Jadhav, and sought a stay on his death sentence.

Jadhav was sentenced to death by the Field General Court Martial (FGCM) last month for his alleged involvement in espionage and sabotage activities against Pakistan.

The Pakistan Army in May 2016 accused Jadhav of being a spy from Indian Intelligence agency RAW and arrested him from Balochistan.
