Opener Rahul scored an impressive 108 runs off 190 balls,which included 13 fours and one six.
Skipper Virat Kohli's 78 off 107 balls and Rohit Sharma's 79 off 132 balls were other notable scores for the tourists.
For the Lankans, Dhammika Prasad and Rangana Herath took two wickets each. Skipper Angelo Mathews and fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera claimed a wicket each.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha was at the crease unbeaten at 19.
