At least three houses collapsed on Monday after a cylinder exploded in the Kuli bazaar area of Kanpur.
"Around 9.15 a.m., we received the information that three houses have collapsed due to a cylinder blast in Kuli bazaar and five people have been injured. Work is going on to find the buried people," said Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Avinash Singh.
The injured have been admitted in the hospital with the help of the locals.
"In the morning, when I was going to work, there was a big blast. A few people are still buried and the injured have been taken to the hospital. The fire brigade and other administrative authorities have reached here," said Mohammad Salim, an eyewitness.
