Brace yourself, as Katy Perry is all set to take you all for the musical journey of MTV Video Music Awards, 'eclipsing the history.'

The 'Bon Appetit' singer will be hosting the big musical award night this year, which is going live on August 27 from the Forum in Inglewood, reports Deadline.

She took to Twitter to break the news and wrote alongside, "Introducing your MOONWOMAN. Brace for impact! August 27th on @MTV @VMAs"

The video, attached with the announcement, sees Perry as an astronaut, launching herself on moon.

The songstress has five nominations this year, tied with The Weeknd for the second-most behind Kendrick Lamar. She will also be performing at the event.

Miley Cyrus was the host for last year's MTV VMAs , which reportedly drew 6.5 million viewers across 11 Viacom networks.
