Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief, Arvind Kejriwal, on Tuesday flayed Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over inflation, water and electricity price hike, alleging the parties are controlled by gas and electricity companies.
Kicking off a massive seven-day road show in New Delhi ahead of general elections, Kejriwal wooed voters as he embarked on his tour from Chandni Chowk area in the capital.
"We slashed the bill for water and electricity during my rule in Delhi. People were very happy. Today is April 1st, the water and electricity tariff has again gone up in Delhi from today. After I quit from the government, these BJP and Congress people sat at the parliament and passed the budget for the coming year. They have hiked the electricity and water tariff because they are with water and electricity companies, and they would be having their share of commission. All this is due to corruption," Kejriwal said.
Kejriwal has attacked Reliance Industries Chairman and billionaire Mukesh Ambani regularly in his election rallies. He has alleged that Ambani had influence on both Congress and BJP.
While Kejriwal has been touring all over India to carry out election campaigns, BJP national spokesperson, Nirmala Sitharaman, called it a political gimmick.
"I have been saying this for so long, he formed the government here and quit within 49 days and then he wants to emerge as a national party with all his political drama. Now he is back to Delhi, let him come, our campaign is on, also in Chandni Chowk and other places. But Arvind Kejriwal should focus on issues and should progress ahead with positive campaign and not negative ones," Sitharaman said.
