Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over party president Amit Shah's remark that the 'acche din' promised by his political organisation will take 25 years to be achieved, saying that the people would not have voted for the party if they had been aware of the facts earlier.

"If the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had informed the people prior to elections that they are going to take 25 to bring 'achhe din', then had the people voted for them," Kejriwal said on Twitter.

According to reports, Shah said that 'acche din' was the pride that India enjoyed before the British Raj, adding that the BJP would need to win elections at 'every level' of the state machinery to regain that admiration.

The BJP president had also mentioned that a mere five-year rule by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) cannot take the country to the top of the world.

He, however, stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government can reduce inflation, ensure secure borders, make a strong foreign policy, achieve economic development, provide jobs and remove poverty.
