Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today visited the two minor girls who were raped in the national capital on Friday.
He met one of them at the GTB Hospital in Delhi. Later, he went to Sanjay Gandhi hospital to meet the other rape victim. He was accompanied by Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain.
Kejriwal said police has a huge responsibility of creating an environment of security in the city. He said repeated rape of minors is shameful and worrying.
He asked Prime Minister Modi to personally intervene in the matter and added that he was ready to cooperate with Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung, as he believed all stakeholders have to work together to prevent such incidents in future.
He said he has sought time to meet Prime Minister and the Lieutenant Governor to discuss women safety in Delhi.
Both girls are said to be in a critical condition. They have suffered severe injuries. No arrests have been made in one of case, so far.
Former Delhi Chief Minister Shiela Dikshit today said Kejriwal must stop playing the blame game and cooperate with the home ministry, the Lieutenant Governor and the police on the issue of women safety.
Dikshit said Kejriwal should become serious about governance and stop playing political games.
She said there was a need for coordinated administration to tackle crimes against women in the city.
