Kim Jong-Un becomes the first North Korean leader to attend a performance by a South Korean troupe in Pyongyang.
Kim along with his wife on Sunday was present at a concert by a 160-member South Korean art troupe at East Pyongyang Grand Theatre, as reported by the Yonhap News Agency quotes the South Korean cultural ministry.
Amid thawing ties between the rivals after more than a year of heightened tensions over the North's nuclear program, the visit came as a gesture of reconciliation before the peninsula after months of military tensions.
The troupe consisted of 11 Korean pop musicians including Cho Yong-Pil, Lee Sun-hee, Choi Jin-hee, Red Velvet and Seohyun of Girls' Generation.
Previously South Korean President Moon Jae-In attended a Seoul performance by a North Korean art troupe called "Samjiyon Orchestra" in February in celebration of the PyeongChang Winter Olympics in South Korea.
Recently the efforts are being made by both the Koreas to thaw their icy relations after being urged for the same by the United States, Japan and China.
Both North-South Korea are also slated to hold the third edition of the inter-Korean summit on April 27 in an endeavour to improve ties and reduce the tensions between them.
