North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's aunt, whose husband was executed last Friday for trying to overthrow the government, has been nominated for an ad-hoc state committee.

Kim Kyong Hui's name appeared in a state media dispatch at the sixth place in a list of more than 50 funeral committee members in a funeral committee for fellow senior Workers' Party official Kim Kuk Thae, who died on Friday, News.com.au reports.

This revealed that the influence of Kim's aunt, who is the younger sister of the leader's father late Kim Jong Il, has not diminished even after the execution of her husband.

The 67-year old woman has risen through the ranks in recent years helping Kim to be groomed as the country's next leader after his father's death in late 2011, the report added.
