Winning the 2015 Cricket World Cup would result in a big payday for New Zealand squad members and each player could carry home as much as 10 times his base salary if they manage to bag the coveted trophy.

New Zealand Cricket (NZC) revealed that they receive none of the tournament's prize money, which is split evenly between the 15-man World Cup squad. And if New Zealand wins the 14-team tournament, which has a total prize pool of 13.57 million dollars, they could pocket as much as 4,00,000 dollars each, with the big winner being Grant Elliott.

Elliott, father of two, was last year dumped off the national contract list and at best receives the top Wellington domestic contract worth 41,393 dollars as his retainer, though he receives additional match-payments for domestic and international matches, Stuff.co.nz reported.

NZC aren't the only ones to miss out; coach Mike Hesson and the wider management team do too, though that is reportedly likely to change.

The tournament earnings would be split evenly among the 15-man squad regardless of how many matches each squad member plays. In the past an extra share has been created to be split among the support staff and it is reportedly understood that is likely to happen again but those discussions have not yet taken place.

As well as the World Cup trophy, the tournament's winners receive 5.28 million dollars, more than double the beaten finalists' 2.32 million dollars. Losing semifinalists would be consoled with nearly 8,00,000 dollars while teams that progress no further than the quarterfinals take home about 4,00,000 dollars, the report added.
