The Indian Army and Assam Police personnel have in a joint operation neutralised Kamtapur Liberation Organisation (KLO) terrorists, who were trying to plant an IED on the railway track in Kokrajhar.
The terrorists opened fire and the team retaliated with controlled fire injuring one hardcore KLO terrorist, who later died in the hospital.
A 7.65 mm pistol, pistol magazine, some fired cases and live rounds, two hand grenades, one 7 kg IED with detonator and other war like stores were recovered from the spot.
Reports suggest that the terrorists were planning to blow up the railway track using the IED to disrupt the Independence Day celebrations.
