Two terrorists, possibly belonging to the Lashkar-e-Taiba module, have been neutralised in an encounter with security forces here in Waderbala area of Handwara in Jammu and Kashmir and search operations are underway to smoke out any remaining terrorists.
Acting on specific information about the presence of terrorists, the Handwara police assisted by 21 Rashtriya Rifles personnel cordoned the area and began the search operations.
During the operation, the terrorists fired upon the joint party of police and security forces. The fire was retaliated and an encounter ensued in which two terrorists were neutralised.
Two AK 47 rifles, six AK magazines, four UBGL, 46 AK rounds, two radio sets, two maps, two pouches and a diary was recovered from the encounter site.
The identity of the terrorists is being ascertained.
