Justin Langer has ruled himself out for the England coaching job by signing a two-year contract with Western Australia (WA).

The former Australian opener, who was also linked with Indian coaching role, was approached by England's new cricket director, Andrew Strauss after Peter Moores was sacked as England head coach.

The BBC quoted him as saying that he had told Strauss about lots of reasons he would be going to stay in Perth.

Langer, who has been Western Australia's coach since 2012, said that he was flattered to be associated with potential international coaching opportunities but the timing wasn't right for his family.

After retiring from international cricket, Langer became the batting coach to the Australian side before being appointed as head coach of WA and Perth Scorchers in November 2012.

Meanwhile, Langer's former team-mate and current Yorkshire coach, Jason Gillespie remains the favourite to succeed Moores.
