The 'Wolf of Wall Street' actor's foundation gave Oceana group the grant to help it promote responsible fishing and safeguard the welfare of sharks dolphins and whales in the Pacific and Arctic, Sky News reported.
Chief executive Andy Sharpless said that the sum will be spread over a three-year period and will be used to protect marine animals from being caught and killed as "bycatch".
