Chinese player Li Na has been signed on as an ambassador for Right to Play, an organization that uses sports to educate and empower kids facing adversity.

According to TennisWorldUSA.org, the announcement was made when the world no. 5 visited the Right To Play programs at Beijing School For The Blind.

Li said that being with the children helped her to gain perspective as an athlete and it is hard to imagine being a child and not having the chance to play, adding that it was every child's right, no matter where they come from or what their abilities are.

Right To Play reaches one million children across over 20 countries, the report said.

Li Na has become a global icon following her 2011 French Open triumph, making her the first Asian player to win a singles grand slam title, the report added.
