Liverpool suffered a major blow in their bid for the Premier League title after they drew 2-2 with Aston Villa at Anfield on Saturday
With leaders Arsenal victorious earlier in the day, this missed opportunity left Brendan Rodgers' side eight points adrift of top spot and seven behind second-place Manchester City.
According to Sport24, despite Andreas Weimann and Christian Benteke giving Villa a two-goal lead in the game, Liverpool struck back with Daniel Sturridge's 11th goal league goal of the season and a Steven Gerrard penalty, although they could claim only a point.
Liverpool made one change from the side that claimed a 5-3 win over Stoke City last time out, while Villa manager Paul Lambert handed on-loan Chelsea defender Ryan Bertrand a debut, and named striker Grant Holt, who has made a temporary switch from Wigan Athletic, among the substitutes, the report added.
