Residents of Imphal have once again sought to highlight their objection to militants repeatedly disturbing them with their frequent acts of violence.
Recently, the residence of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee vice president Sagolsem Achou in the city's Wangoi Bazaar was attacked with grenades.
A security escort of Achou was wounded in the blast.
It was the second such attack on the Achou residence, who is also the vice chairman of the Khadi and Village Industries Board.
Sanjay Singh, a relative, said: "We were informed that there was something lying at the gate. It was wrapped in something yellow. We did not know that it was a bomb. It exploded when we tried to remove it with a stick."
Locals came together at the Wangoi Bazaar for a protest demonstration to condemn the attack. All shops remained shut during the protest. The protesters strongly voiced their anger towards the militant outfits for their frequent bomb attacks and urged them not to repeat such attacks in the future.
Sanahanbi Devi, a protestor, said: "I do not want such incidents to happen. We want to live in peace. I want to tell these militant outfits not to disturb common innocent people."
Various militant outfits active in the region are regularly involved in such acts of violence, thereby, creating an atmosphere of insecurity among the people.
The locals want these outfits to shun violence so that they can lead a normal life.
