India's flamboyant opener Gautam Gambhir on Sunday came out in full support of Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, who has been in the line of fire for alleged corruptions under his tenure as president of Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA), saying 'lot of good things had happened under his tenure'.

"I sincerely believe that since Jaitley ji was president I think there has been a lot of good things that has happened in DDCA and the best thing that happened was that Delhi got an international stadium in the form of Kotla," Gambhir told the media here.

"I don't want to comment on any individual as to what anyone wants to show and all. I only believe all good things only happened when Jaitley ji was the president of DDCA," he added.

When asked to respond on the allegations made on the Finance Minister by others, the left handed opener said that 'they (people accusing Mr. Jaitley) were given that top most position, and they were able to do nothing for Delhi'.

"All these people who have been accusing him left, right and centre have been in top position and have been a part of the cricket improvement committee. Now when they are not there in those positions, they are trying to accuse him of every allegation," he added.

"If this was the case they shouldn't have taken those positions which they took when he (Jaitley) was the president," he further said.

Finance Minister Jaitley, has been accused of corruption by the Delhi Government and former players including Kirti Azad and Bishan Singh Bedi during his tenure as president of DDCA till 2013.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress Party has demanded for the resignation of the Finance Minister from the union cabinet to enable an independent probe against him.
