"We have lit fire near the cages of lions, leopards and tigers so that they can feel warm. The cages of birds are also covered with green net. When the zoo closes, the net blocks cold air from passing through and so the birds can be saved from cold," said zoo curator, Narendra Singh Jhala.

Special food is being provided to the animals to help them regulate their normal body temperature. The zoo houses animals like deer, tiger, leopard and bear.

Zoo animals are the worse affected by a change in temperature as they have been displaced from their natural habitat and kept in places where the temperatures are not favourable to their bodies.
