A Sikh gang of four has been convicted of slashing the throat of Lieutenant-General Kuldeep Singh Brar in a revenge attack on 30 September last year.
According to the BBC, Mandeep Singh Sandhu, Dilbag Singh, Barjinder Singh Sangha and Harjit Kaur of London were convicted at Southwark Crown Court on charges of wounding with intent.
Lt Gen Brar and his wife Meena were on their way to their hotel on Old Quebec Street in central London when the group attacked.
Brar had suffered a 12-inch cut running across his neck and jaw and another three-inch cut to the jaw, the report further added.
Lt Gen Brar's role in a controversial 1984 military operation, Operation Blue Star, against Sikh militants in Amritsar, had made him a target for Sikh extremist groups.
The court proceedings had earlier confirmed that the group was targeting Lt Gen Brar in revenge for his actions during his military career, the report added.
