Lucasfilm has announced a new contest for all the die-hard 'Star Wars' fans, where they can participate and submit fan-made film of Irvin Kershner's classic movie.
The studio released 'Empire Uncut' on their official 'Star Wars' YouTube account and website, and has already pulled in the best of more than 1,500 submissions and recreations of sequences from the second 'Star Wars' movie, the Hollywood Reporter reported.
The new contest invites fans to submit short films inspired by the sci-fi original in the categories which include comedy, non-fiction and animation. The winners would be selected by fans online and their work would be screened at an upcoming Star Wars Celebration event in April 2015.
Submissions have started and would be until January 16, 2015.
