Washington D.C. [U.S.A], November 6 (ANI)
Hollywood actor Mark Hamill, best known for his portrayal of Luke Skywalker in the 'Star Wars' film series, has revealed an important aspect of his character in the upcoming flick 'The Last Jedi'.
The 68-year-old actor admits that Luke is haunted by the tragedies he has lived through, according to Contactmusic.
In an interview with a leading U.S publication, Hamill said, "I don't think Luke's fundamental personality has changed [over the years], except that he is older and his life experiences have shaped his outlook the same way they do for all of us."
Hamill admits the evil actions of Luke's nephew Ben Solo that occurred between 'Episode VI: Return of the Jedi' and 'Episode VII: The Force Awakens', have caused a profound change in Luke's beliefs, but the character has not turned to the Dark Side like his father Anakin Skywalker did.
"The biggest challenge for me was actually in the time between 'Return of the Jedi' and 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens'. I had to know what had happened to Luke during those years. I had to glean decades of backstory from the script. And some of it I had to make up for myself. It's not important to the storyline for this film, but I did discuss some of my thoughts with Rian Johnson [director] to make sure I wasn't coming up with anything in my personal backstory that would affect Luke's portrayal in this film. '', Hamill added.
Hamill has teased that 'The Last Jedi' - will focus on Luke's relationship with Rey (Daisy Ridley) and her significance in the galaxy - contains several ''jaw-dropping surprises''.
The film also stars John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Lupita Nyong'o, Andy Serkis and the late Carrie Fisher, and is slated for a December release.
