After reports that three major political parties of Nepal are considering to keep the Constitution Amendment Bill inactive till the polls, Madhesi leaders have called the move as an attempt to bring catastrophe.
Madhes based party leaders Upendra Yadav, Mahantha Thakur and Rajendra Mahato stressed on constitution amendment before heading towards the elections.
"The most important thing to do at this time is to make the Constitution broader ownership of the people and for this we have to amend it. We have to re-write some article, some article of the constitution. Only then the election will be possible," Upendra Yadav, Chairman of Sanghiya Samajbadi Forum Nepal told ANI.
Yadav who also is the coordinator of disgruntled Federal Alliance questioned the base on which the government is planning to hold the local election.
"In constitution the structure of local body is very different but existing is very different. So they are very controversial. Without resolving the national crisis, without resolving the national issues, national problem the local body election will not be fruitful,"said Yadav.
Mahantha Thakur, Chairman of Terai Madhesh Loktantirk Part threatened to boycott the local election if government makes an attempt to hold the election.
Chief of Sadbhawana Party, Rajendra Mahato also ruled out support over the election if the government makes an attempt to hold the election and remanded for the revision of the tabled amendment proposal.
The Constitution Amendment Bill which was tabled in the Parliament in September is opposed by the Madhesi Morcha claiming the proposal failed to address their demands.
