Madonna has apologized for using a racial slur to refer to her son Rocco on Instagram.

The 55-year-old singer initially called the objecting fans as haters, but later apologized to them asking them to forgive her, News.com.au reported.

The 'Vogue' hitmaker said that she was not racist and did not mean to use the word as a slur, but as a term of endearment and knew there was no way to defend its use.

Madonna had recently posted a picture of her 13-year-old son boxing and used a hashtag that contained a variation of the "n-word".
