Maha. Police informs IRCTC about data theft

The Maharashtra Police has informed the Indian Railways about the suspected hacking and theft of data from the Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) website.

The IRCTC is India's biggest travel e-commerce website, where lakh of transactions are conducted every day. The website has lots of sensitive information such as the PAN card numbers of the customers, their safety and security questions and other such personal information.

Speaking to ANI, IRCTC PRO said that the police is yet to share the data with them, after which they would look into the matter and issue a detailed statement.

"IG Maharashtra police cyber cell has informed IRCTC about Data theft from its website but the details of the said data are still to be shared with IRCTC. IRCTC will be issuing a detailed press note later today," the PRO said.
