Indian freedom fighter Mahatma Gandhi's symbolic spinning wheel, also called 'charkha' in Hindi, has been sold at a UK auction for about 110,000 pounds.
Gandhi, who considered spinning a form of meditation, had given the spinning wheel to an American Free Methodist missionary in 1935, the BBC reported.
Auctioneers Mullock's said that the spinning wheel had been sold to an anonymous phone bidder in Shropshire.
Richard Westwood-Brookes from the auction house said that the price paid for the 'charkha' had "exceeded expectations," as it's guide price was between 60,000 pounds and 80,000 pounds.
