Mali President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita has said that his country will not shut down after the deadly terrorist attack the Radisson Blu hotel in the capital Bamako that killed 20 people. He said there was no question of a Paris-like repeat situation post a terror strike.
Keita said that Mali will not shut down just as Paris and New York did not close down after 9/11 and the deadly storm of attacks respectively.
According to the Guardian, Keita described his country as the latest to join the global struggle against extremism as he declared a three-day mourning period after the deadly hotel siege.
During a visit to the Radisson Blu hotel, where gunmen took hostages in the lobby, Keita said that terrorism will not win.
French president François Hollande condemned the attack, saying that they stand by their ally, Mali, in this time, after French special forces helped end the siege.
The hotel siege was the second deadly assault on a high-profile target in the Malian capital in under a year, after gunmen murdered at least five people in a popular restaurant in March.
