Australian all-rounder James Faulkner has been awarded the Man of the Match title for his impressive wicket-taking spell in his Indian Premier League (IPL) side Rajasthan Royals' win over the Kolkata Knight Riders on a boundary count after a tied Super Over at Abu Dhabi.
Faulkner marked his 24th birthday by taking three wickets for 11 runs off his two overs after Rajasthan captain Shane Watson won the toss and elected to bat, with his side notching up 152 for five wickets.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Watson managed a second-top score of 33 off 24, including five fours, before being run out by Manish Pandey, with his batting effort being second only to opener Ajinkya Rahane, who produced 72 off his 59-ball knock.
Faulkner and fellow Australian Steve Smith rounded out the innings, making two and 19 not out respectively and the report added that with the Super Over tied, the match came down to a boundary count, giving the Royals the win for their 19 compared with Kolkata's 15.
