Manchester United's director Bobby Charlton has reportedly insisted that striker Wayne Rooney, who is a 30 million pound target for Chelsea, will continue at the club and then go on to break his goal record.
According to the Sun, Charlton said that Rooney is a Manchester United player and he will continue to be so, adding that the club is not silly enough to make rash decisions as Rooney is a very good player and the club doesn't want to lose him.
The report said that Rooney is at loggerheads with the Premier League champions after asking to quit the club.
Charlton praised the new boss David Moyes and said that he is a first class coach and he was certain that there would be mutual support between Moyes and the former manager Sir Alex Ferguson, the report added.
