Manchester United are reportedly considering a sensational move to bring Barcelona star Gerard Pique back to Old Trafford in January 2015.

According to the Daily Star, the club was given a huge boost in their pursuit for Pique after he was left out the Barca side to face Paris St-Germain again.

The Spain centre-half cut an unhappy figure on the sidelines as the Spanish giants fell to a 3-2 Champions League defeat.

Pique has been hammered in the Spanish media for his attitude while warming up. He left his boots unlaced and seemed more focused on the game itself than on his warm-up exercises.

Pique is said to be unhappy with his role within the team this season.

Boss Luis Enrique has been rotating his squad and appears to prefer Javier Mascherano in his position.

It's understood that one of the reasons he's been left out is because the Barca management feel Pique is far short of his best form.
