Although Premier League Champions Manchester United may be ready for a Wayne Rooney transfer, they would sell the England striker abroad and not to Arsenal or Chelsea, as they do not want the striker strengthening one of their domestic rivals and potentially costing them trophies.

According to the Mirror, Jose Mourinho's Chelsea and fellow Londoners Arsenal have both had offers for the England striker rejected after United boss David Moyes insisted that Rooney is not available at any price.

However, the report said that the champions would sell the 27-year-old, if he agrees to move abroad.

Old Trafford vice-chairman Ed Woodward revealed that there are no plans to offer the 250,000 pounds-a-week striker new contract, the report added.

Real Madrid has been linked with the former Everton forward, but the Spanish giants are currently focusing their attention on Gareth Bale, the report further said.
