Manisha Koirala pitches for Earth Anthem to be recognized as global anthem

Bollywood actress Manisha Koirala pitched in for the Earth Anthem, written by Indian diplomat and poet Abhay K. Kumar, to be recognized as a global anthem to cultivate brotherhood and a feeling of oneness throughout the world.

Earth Day celebrated each year on the April 22 by concerned citizens across the world aims at cultivating the feeling of oneness among nations and people.

"This national anthem for the world, Mr. Abhay Ji has written it and produced it. I think it's a brilliant idea because we have a national anthem for each individual countries but we don't have a global one anthem for the whole world and as we say that we are the citizens of a global one world and keeping that philosophy in mind, keeping that feeling in mind, I think an anthem for the world would be great," said Koirala.

Indian diplomat and poet Abhay K.Kumar was honoured on Earth Day in Nepal on June 2013 at an event where he was felicitated for his anthem.

Abhay Kumar's suggestion of an official Earth Anthem was recommended for UNESCO's consideration in January by the permanent delegation of India to the Paris- based body.

Koirala told reporters that one anthem for the whole world would usher unity and oneness into the presently divided world.

"If you live in an environment which is a cooperative then it always is a help, so this thing gives a message out,this one anthem for the world. It gives the message across that we all are one, we all are united and that we all stand together," said Koirala.

Other earth- related events such as Earth Day, Earth Hour, World Environment Day, etc., are efforts to save the fast fading beauty of the world we live in, and the constant conflicts and wars among people and nations add to its woes.

Koirala believes that the media could help in publicising and popularising the anthem worldwide.

"The thought itself is beautiful if it's induced everyday on TV channels how we know about the national anthems and if the earth anthem can be as impact fully shown through the media and through people so it reaches out, if the thought behind is beautiful the effect automatically will stir and create certain kind of repercussion," she said

Growing awareness among people from around the world for the need to preserve the natural resources of the world brings hope for a better planet and a better future for the coming generations.
