Internal Security Advisor K. Vijay Kumar on Sunday visited Chhattisgarh's Sukma District where Maoist attacked the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel.
Bastar's Inspector General of Police P. Sunder Raj, Sukhma's Superintendent of Police Abhishek Meena, and Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of police Upadhyay, were also among the officials who accompanied Kumar to take stock of the situation.
At least 11 personnel of the 219-battalion from the CRPF were killed and six others critically injured in a Maoist attack near Bhejji in Sukma District, yesterday.
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, who met the inured personnel in Narayana hospital in Raipur yesterday, said that Rs. 1 crore should be provided as compensation to the deceased.
"We have decided that a total compensation to kin of the soldiers who were killed in the attack shouldn't be less than Rs. 1 crore under any circumstances," Singh said.
He also assured that the country would not let the soldier's sacrifice go in vain and said that a heavy retaliation would be given to the Maoists.
