Marcia Wallace voice of 'The Simpsons' Krabappel dies at 70

Marcia Wallace, who is known for her roles as The Simpsons' cynical fourth grade school teacher Edna Krabappel and The Bob Newhart Show's wisecracking secretary Carol Kester, has died. She was 70.

'Simpsons' executive producer Al Jean said in a statement that Wallace's "irreplaceable character," of scoffing schoolteacher would be retired from the show, ABC News reportd.

Wallace, who won he Emmy as outstanding voice actress in 1992 for her performance Krabappel, also lend her voice in animated shows, including Darkwing Duck and Captain Planet and the Planeteers.
