Australian actor Margot Robbie is in talks to star in 'Barbie', a movie based on Mattel's globally recognised doll.

After a movie about the popular doll was in development for years at Sony, Mattel is partnering with Warner Bros. Robbie would also produce the project through her LuckyChap banner, reported The Hollywood Reporter.

It is, however, yet not known if Mattel is sticking to the original script, which had set Amy Schumer to star, who dropped out due to scheduling conflicts. It was later reported Anne Hathaway would replace Schumer.

As per sources 'Wonder Woman' director Patty Jenkins is circling the Warners project but no substantive talks or offers that have taken place.

Apart from 'Barbie' Robbie is all geared up for her upcoming movie 'Birds of Prey' which is set to hit the big screen on February 7, 2020. Robbie will reprise her 'Suicide Squad' role as Harley Quinn, with Cathy Yan directing the film.
