Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati on Saturday attacked Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) stating that the saffron party and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) are misleading the people by fanning issues like cow protection in the state.

At a meeting addressing the party workers here, Maywati said that the ruling establishment is resorting to such issues in order to hide its failures like law and order situation in the state.

"The BJP Government in Uttar Pradesh has failed in ensuring development, curbing crime and improving law and order scenario. The condition of roads, water supply, electricity, hospitals and education is very poor. This is happening, when there is a BJP government, both at the Centre and in the state," she said.

"The party during the 2017 UP polls made tall promises that lured the people. Like Prime Minister Modi's government at the Centre, the Yogi Adityanath government is also turning out to be a government of pretence and deceit," she added.

She said the BSP's missionary movement is progressing well with full vigour and is deep rooted in Uttar Pradesh.

Mayawati further said that the BSP considers the BJP and the RSS as real threat and challenge as they first considered Dr. Ambedkar to be an obstacle of their way, and the country.

"When such casteist elements come to power, it becomes clear to the public that their policies and programs are not going to unify the country, but will break the country. The result of this is that by targetting the whole country today, a dangerous environment of caste and communal violence, tension and killings has been created on every side," she added.

Mayawati also said that the Centre implemented a "complicated" Goods and Services Tax (GST) without full preparations, post demonetisation.
