Unbeaten US boxing champion Floyd Mayweather believes that refreshing old-school training techniques like 'chopping wood' has pushed him to the limit ahead of his 'fight of the century' bout against Filipino boxer-turned-politician Manny Pacquiao.

Mayweather would go head-to-head against Pacquiao in a mega bout on May 2 in a bid to prove that he is the greatest fighter of his generation.

Commenting on his preparation for the much-anticipated mega-fight, Mayweather said that he had to go back to where it all started from, insisting that chopping wood was the best, the BBC reported.

In a similar method depicted by American actor Sylvester Stallone in his portrayal of fictional boxer Rocky Balboa, Mayweather has been chopping 317.5kg tree trunks during his training in order to get himself in a perfect shape.

Mayweather has been chopping 700lb (317.5kg) tree trunks - a method depicted by American actor Sylvester Stallone in his portrayal of fictional boxer Rocky Balboa - during training.

Mayweather, who has won all 47 of his fights, further said that he really wants to win, insisting that mentally he has to go back to where it all started from as he is not just any other fighter.

Mayweather also said that it all started with the sledgehammer when he was 10, adding that he started chopping with the axe when he was 13 or 14.
