World No. 2 Rory McIlroy has admitted that he is 'feeling lost' and is struggling to reproduce the form that had brought him to the top of the golfing ranks, during the Irish Open Challenge.
The Northern Irishman carded a 2-over-par 74 on the opening day of the Irish Open, trailing playing partner and leader Shane Lowry by seven shots, the Mirror reports.
Stating that none of the aspects of his game is strong, the former World No.1 said that he is feeling somewhat lost, adding that although he is able to hit all shots on the range, he fails to regain his form while on the course.
According to McIlroy, his poor performance gets him confused every time he is playing a tee shot, adding that even though he was also struggling last year at a similar point, he did not such problems as he is having now and was able to have a great end to his season.
McIlroy further said that he is still trying to find out whether he needs to play his way out of his current struggles or just keep practicing on the range to perfect his strokes.
Meanwhile, Lowry said that he was 'chomping at the bit' to get into the tournament and show his form for which he is pleased with his performance there, adding that it is a privilege for a professional golfer to play on his home course and have all his family and friends watch him.
