Members of the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) party led by their Chief Vaiko staged a protest here on Tuesday over a demand that the Central Government allow the United Nations (UN) team to probe atrocities on Tamilians by the Sri Lanka Government.
MDMK is also reportedly demanding that the UN not allow Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse to address the General Assembly later this month.
Earlier this year, Vaiko staged a protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi against President Rajapaksa's visit to India to attend Narendra Modi's swearing-in ceremony as Prime Minister.
The MDMK chief has also met the Prime Minister and said that the latter has promised to give his attention to the issue of minorities and the killings of Tamils in Sri Lanka.
