Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza and her Czech Republic partner Barbora Strycova rolled into the third round of the US Open after registering a straight-set victory in their women's doubles event here at Flushing Meadows on Sunday.
The seventh-seed Indo-Czech pair posted a 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) win over Swiss-Czech pair of Viktorija Golubic and Nicole Melichar in a contest that lasted one hour and 19 minutes.
Mirza had lifted the US Open women's doubles title with Martina Hingis last year, but the pair decided to go their separate ways last month due to the failure to achieve their desired results.
Mirza soon rediscovered her winning touch after joining forces with Strycova as the pair went on to win the Cincinnati Masters last month.
