The bullet-ridden body of a Mahamandaleshwar, who had gone missing on Tuesday, was found in Meerut on Thursday.
The 52-year-old Mahamandaleshwar of the Baba Manoharnath temple in Surajkund was reportedly abducted late on May 3 evening when he was out for a stroll near his residence in Phoolbagh colony.
The police had launched a massive manhunt to locate the Mahamandaleshwar and nab his abductors on Wednesday, after the 52-year-old's family lodged a complaint.
According to reports, the Hindu groups in the region are aggrieved with the incident even as the exact reason behind abduction and murder of the Mahamandaleshwar is yet to be known.
